making a crossbow

hey guys, im new here and i wanted to build myself a small crossbow.
could you tell me how to make a string for it, i only have limited supplies too.

It would probably work best if you were to purchase a string made to the length that you need. I'm not sure if I would trust a home-made string to the forces generated by a crossbow.
